Gearing Up

It is now just a few days until my departure. It is a very crazy feeling. My amazing girlfriend and my family threw me a wonderful going away party. It was a great chance to see a lot of my friends and it was amazing to see them all in one place! It was extremely difficult to say goodbye to them all. But it is not really goodbye, just, “I’ll see you later”. I  know they will all be here when I get back. Staging is on Tuesday and I am a huge mix of nervous, excited, and slightly anxious. I know this will be an amazing experience, its just hard to say goodbye to everyone here. Packing will be done tomorrow as well as moving all the furniture out of my apartment and such. Oh boy, tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I’m sure I will have more to write.

Hello world!

This is my very first blog entry! Hooray!!

This is the first blog I have ever written, so I’ll do my best to keep it interesting and updated often! I will be starting my Peace Corps service at the end of this month in the D.R. I am extremely excited and am eagerly  compiling all the necessary gear. My girlfriend, Marie, has been a huge help in getting ready. I love this girl with all my heart, she is the best! The two of us have been preparing ourselves for this big change for awhile. We are both confident in our relationship and are committed to each other. Its going to be a blast to have her come down and visit me often! It will definitely be a challenge for the two of us but I know we can do it. Plus, all of you readers can cheer us on!

So we are two weeks away from my departure date. It is set for Feb, 28th. I am freaking out a little bit but mostly trying to spend as much time as I can with friends and family before I leave. This is all for now, there will be more to come! I promise!
